She just can't stay away! And we love it. So, Cass had her first chairlift ride. And then we hiked Todd's Lake, went to Sparrow, floated Tumalo River, and wished with all our might that she would move over here!

camp out
First camping trip! Ok, it was only one night, which hardly qualifies as a trip but it was camping! Just Daddy and the boys. There was exploring, lake swimming, pitching of the tent, a new high tech biofuel camp stove, bacon flavored mustard and chips (of course?), smores and staying up late. Seems like a pretty tremendous time was had by all.

One of the inaugural things we had to do this summer was take Astrid for her first ride up the lift at our mountain. I wish I had a recording of the boys telling her all about each run below us and all the things she was going to need to know up there some day. Sweet, sweet, sweet. Always fun to find the snow in the summer!
Side note. Let's talk about the fact that Wally looks 14 in this picture. What the heck?!

old friends, young love and hot air balloons
Our friends Darcie and Casey (a 'bull wheel rider' which is to say, one of Matt's oldest friends) and their daughter Bennett were in town and came for dinner and the Balloons Over Bend kick off with us. It was a really fun evening and the kids were thick as thieves. At the end of the night Fritz whispered to Matt, "Bennett is the prettiest girl I know. I think I'll marry her." She'd be a good pick, honey and we really like her parents too!
